Further along than I expected to be!

Well, believe it or not I have almost everything done! Seriously, all that I have left to decide on is what kind of music to play and what the father, daughter/mother, son dance will be. As well as get my dress hemmed, shoes dyed (mine and my flower girls'), invitations mailed (although that won't happen until mid February), and finalize the decision on the Honeymoon location. It hard to believe but the planning is pretty much done! Oh and we still need to meet with Benedict's to finalize food (can't do that with out Tye), and I have to meet with the florist about 6 weeks prior to the wedding to finalize the flowers.

This girl that works at one of my clinical sites was telling me horror stories about her wedding, but I think that the key is not trying to make it bigger than you can afford. The point of a wedding should not be to send anyone into bankruptcy. It's a celebration of the new life that you and your husband/wife are starting. I mean really, does anyone need 12 bridesmaids?

Anyway, I'm excited we're only 4 months and 2 days away from the big day! And am almost more excited about the honeymoon than the actual wedding. 1-2 weeks of just the two of us. Guess we'll need to find someone to feed the fish...

A weekend off!!!

I finally have a weekend off and will be able to go home and book the florist and cake! We might even fit in a photographer.

I've had a productive start to the week. Already have the house about halfway cleaned. I've let it go a bit mainly due to the dishwasher being broken, which is no fun. But it on track now. One more portion of a day spent cleaning and it will be all done.

This is going to be a long week. Tye is working days this week and I have to be at the hospital for 3am two days this week. And the one day that we would be able to talk is a night that I have to go to bed early because of my 3am rounds. But I'm looking forward to this weekend!

Good news: My veil has come in and I'll be picking it up today!!! Also we're half way done with this deployment!!!

We are going to be quite a good looking pair of sisters

So the entire bridal party, which consists of my sister and my two nieces, all have their dresses! We found my sister's dress yesterday and it's perfect. We all just need shoes and the little ones need their sashes and head bands. The dress looks great on my sister and the place where we are ordering it from will make sashes for the flower girls. I'm thinking that when it comes to shoes that I might have to dye them, and if mine are the teal then it will be perfect for the flower girls to also have teal shoes.

The dress it the only thing that has been crossed off the list so far. But all it will take is one trip home and I'll have a ton taken care of. I just have to hope that I get that chance come time soon.

No other wedding news. I do suppose that I need to start registering pretty soon. I just need to decide on what we need. I wish that we had the time to do it when he got back, but I don't think that we will...

Other news: I get to pick out a new dishwasher today since the one at the house is broken and has been for over a month. Washing dishes by hand is not as much fun as I remember it being when I was a kid at my Maw-maw Katie's house.

I had a better title but thought better of putting my last name in the blog.

Well I've hit a wall...

I found a pair of shoes that I really loved, but apparently the entire world sold out Monday evening between 4 and 9pm. Apparently my future husband had little faith in my internet searching ability (clearly he has lost his mind in the dessert), because he searched the internet and was shocked that everywhere had really sold out. But he did have a good point. I don't need the shoes today, I can wait and look for a while. I don't need my dress altered right this second.

I've had a very long and exhausting week and it's only Wednesday. I've been at a pediatrician's office for the past two days which wears me out. Having small children scream in your face all day while you squeeze blood from their fingers, makes for an exhausting day (especially when you have to work right after).

I'm ready for all of this to be over. December when I'll be done with this part of school and this school in particular; January when Tye will be home (YAY!); and April when we will be married!

One step closer!

I found my dress!!! I went with my mom, aunt, sister, and niece and found the perfect dress. It was the first dress that I tried on, and while I tried on other dresses, none of them compared. However, I still have a lot to accomplish. I still need shoes, which comes with it's own dilemma... What color? My dress is diamond white, so finding a shoe that color could be tricky. Then I think maybe I should go with a teal colored shoe that I will wear again, since I will never wear a white shoe. So I can't decide, but I need to so that I can get my dress altered. The dress is about 4-6 inched to long, well if I'm bare foot.

Things I still need to accomplish: Still need to pick out flowers. I do know what I want, but I need to go see a florist. I also need to see a baker to book the day and tell them what I want. But again I do know what I want. I do still need to decide on music for the ceremony and reception, get my invitations, finalize the guest list, and find and purchase my shoes so that I can get my dress altered.

Other news: Tye and I finally got to chat on the web cam this week, which was great especially since we hadn't seen each other in about a month and a half. The deployment has been going well (on my end at least) as long as nothing else breaks we'll be great. I have been so busy with work, class, clinicals, and wedding planning that it is flying by. Before I know it, April 1st will be here and I'll be Mrs. Dodson! Sometimes I still cannot believe that I'm getting married.

Just getting started!

Welcome everyone to my blog about our wedding. I figured that since we have family spread all over the US and beyond, that this can keep everyone up to date on what is going on. I'll try to keep up with what is going on but since my computer is really unhappy right now it might be difficult to keep it as up to date as I would like. But we'll see how it goes.

So far we haven't accomplished much. With the groom being overseas and our communication at a minimum it took a while to get an OK (or an "it's your decision") on the when in where. But the wedding will definitely be in my hometown of Mandeville, LA and likely at Benedict's and it will probably be in April. It is going to be more of an intimate thing. My mom and I have already started editing the guest list since he is from Missouri and very few of them will be able to come and we don't want it to be completely lopsided.
I'm pretty excited because my mom is coming up here in two weeks and we are going dress shopping! I have an idea of the cut of dress that will look good on me, but if I've learned one thing from Say Yes to the Dress it is that you don't really know what you want until you start trying on dresses.
I know that I want aqua or turquoise as my color (I'll likely have a hint of pink in the bouquets from the centers of the orchids, but mainly just the one color.) I'm pretty sure that I want orchids as my flower but the bouquets will mainly be accented with the orchids with the bulk of it white roses and maybe some gardenias (but they may be too smelly).
Well that's about it. I mean we've only been engaged for three weeks now, so I think I'm doing pretty good especially considering that I am in taking class, in clinicals, and working.
