Project 52! Four

Life is About Pushing Yourself!

This is a terrible picture, but the best that I had... Sorry... But this is about capturing my life week by week and not so much about photography...

And I hurt a whole bunch all over!

This week I started P90X with some friends from work and I don't think that there is a spot on my body that doesn't hurt... But it's all worth it!

Sophie's plight

My poor little (fat) Sophie... Since Cat 2's dramatic appearance into her originally splendid life she has been less than thrilled and in desperate need of some cuddle time. But she just cannot relax long enough to get any. She'll think that maybe it's safe to remind me that she does still like me and then she'll see Cat 2 or hear his bell or just sense his presence and run off.

In all honesty I miss my cuddle sessions with my fat little Sophie (who is going to get fatter if she keeps eating that kitten food!) I attempted a forbidden cuddle session in my bed before I went to sleep, but she really just wanted to investigate and was probably slightly concerned since she is not allowed in there under normal circumstances. Now that the attempt at a relaxing moment with her failed, I guess I'll just have to wait until she gets a little more familiar with Cat 2 and decides that she's safe. I miss her stretching out on the floor begging for attention when I get home (even if she does like to stop dead right in front of me.) and I miss just seeing her out around the house. Occasionally I'll hear her calling from the hall as if saying, "I'm here! Is it safe?"

Maybe one day soon I'll get to see her and Cat2 cuddling like she did with a friend's cat or sleeping on some of my school work...
Post trauma (vacuum) cuddle. But it was Essa who was scared more so than Sophie.

What can I say? She has a bit of a thing for paper.

But until then she'll continue to be grouchy and scared, and eat kitten food. Also I think that once Cat 2 is old enough we'll just have to switch them both to fat cat food. Or maybe playing with each other and a puppy in the future will slim her down a bit.

Project 52! Three

Life is About Enjoying the Simple Things!

This week I finally got to use the master bathroom which has been under construction (more on that later). Something about a gorgeous new bathroom is amazing! Plus the bathroom has been a work in progress for something like a couple of years, after a pretty nasty leak soaked the Sheetrock. And now we finally have two bathrooms again and my husband did an amazing job on the master!

Decisions for the future

After much deliberation and with the steadily approaching move (more to come on that later) I have decided to take this spring semester off of school. Then once we get to our new local I will start my Associates in the fall. All in all this move is less risky since getting in to clinicals will be less competitive and once I am finished with my ADN I can immediately go back to school for my Bachelors and work as a nurse at the same time.

I am so thankful that the "what if"s are gone! I was concerned that I wouldn't get into clinicals the first round and that would push back my entrance for another year and then it would have been pointless because I could have been half way through with my ADN. Plus it will be cheaper, which is even more important when your going to be paying out of state tuition at first.

Now the question is.... What to do with my time now? In all honesty I have been sleeping in a lot this week (but keep in mind that I was sleep deprived from the weekend and I'm getting sick). Once I find a good NCLEX book I'll start studying for that, because I can't just wait until later.

Maybe I'll do some crafting! I have been wanting to make a wreath... But told myself to wait because we're moving... But why wait? We aren't moving yet and it definitely won't hurt! And maybe start crocheting? I could knit once but could never get it tight enough....

Right now I'm playing a Star Wars game online with my husband, sister, and brother-in-law. But I'm way behind them and can't see myself catching up to quickly since I don't play as much as they do and they got a head start. (Plus he gets first dibs on the computer on the weekends when he's home...)

And there's also exercise!!!!! So need to get back to hitting the gym more often!

Thanks for sticking out my hodge-podge post!

Have a great week!

Project 52! Week Two

Life is Work!

I have a little check list in my head when I'm heading out to go to work. Everything gets stuffed into scrub pockets as I'm running out the door. This week I'm pretty sure I've misplaced either my keys or pager ever day!

This week my life has been more about work than anything else. In fact Friday was day 11 of days at work since last weekend I dealt with the dreaded on call... I feel like this is coming off as me complaining and maybe I am a little but I am so blessed in life but this week has been a rough off week. But even if I only spent about 8 hours awake with my husband last weekend while he was in town (he is training out of state right now), things could be a whole lot worse.

For me as work weeks go this one was rough, add to that the fact that I'm pretty sure that I am now getting sick (probably thanks to those few hours I spent with my not so healthy husband this weekend) doesn't help. But next week will be better and I'll still be working!

So maybe this isn't the most fun or interesting photo but this was my week... A whole lot of blue and stuff in my pockets. I did forget my badge when I was taking this picture. The holder is pretty darn cute and I'll have to share it later.

He is very cute but Sophie is still not a fan...
And he is still nameless, but we're working on that!

Project 52! 52:1

Welcome to my very first Project 52!  The goal is to post a picture each week of what is going on in our lives. Hopefully this will at least get me to blog on a weekly basis. Plus it will be fun to look back on at the end of the year to see what a change out family went through, and this year is going to be full of quite a few big and fun changes!

Cat 2 (he's still nameless, maybe this weekend when my husband gets home we can figure out what to name him) has created such a change in our house. And mischievous? Ummm yeah he's just a little mischievous. At least he's starting to understand that there are boundaries (which he is constantly testing) and rules with the help of the squirt bottle. I do feel a little bad about dousing him since he has a cold, but if you're well enough to get into trouble then you're well enough to suffer the consequences. He actually got off of the kitchen chair when he saw me reach for the squirt bottle today. We're making progress!

One only slightly unfortunate thing is that once I get this kitty trained I'll probably starting back from scratch with a way too smart for his own good puppy. But you won't see me getting upset about that one and maybe Cat 2 will just help to hone my skills prior to the puppy's arrival. (I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we get selected to take home a Doberman puppy! Looking good so far!)

Meet our newest addition!

During the Christmas weekend I was sent quite a few pictures of a kitten that my husband's family had found and after a bit of persuasion I agreed to make our house it's new home. I was concerned that Sophie would be angry, but she was scared (weird). I was adamant that this would not conflict with our current plans to get a Doberman Puppy this summer (YAY!) I was concerned about the mess. And I'm still concerned about the mess that two cats can make.

But he and I were raised differently. Around the age of 5 we lost our last dog and never expected to have another, because we were told that "some people have dogs and others have children." As the second oldest of 5 I knew which side my parents fell on. (Maybe I should use this line on my Mom next time she asks about babies in the future. HAHAH!) But then when I was about 13 we got a Lab mix. All in all we never had more than a dog at a time and never EVER any cats (we did have a bird for about a week but that was a mistake and my parents gave it back to its original owners.

Now my husband, on the other hand, grew up in a home that rarely ever just had one pet. So I'm adjusting to this quite wonderful way of life!

As of how he is known as Cat2, kitty, rudeness, and maybe some other less than appropriate names. But in our defense he is insistent on playing with Sophie who is really quite frightened of the kitten. And he is basically fearless and couldn't care less how much Sophie hisses and growls at him.

Thankfully his cold seems to be mostly gone although he is still a bit congested, but as least I'm no longer getting occasional sprays of kitten snot...

Oops! Sophie has been located! Not long after this picture was taken he attempted an attack.

And I spoke too soon about the kitten snot...
I have more pictures of the little guy but Blogger and my computer are not being friends and I can't get more than one at a time to load properly and it takes an eternity to load each one.

Good night!

It's been a while, but I'm back!!

And hopefully better!  There have been some changes in our house and will be even more changes to come! This is going to be quite an exciting year and I can't wait to share it all!

You want a few teasers? Well I guess... We have a new addition to our family and hope for one more later this year. We'll be moving! And hopefully I can keep up.

Stay tuned...

Oh, and be on the lookout for my first Project 52!
